Outdoor will probably be elimination rather than capture the shield for outdoor. I'll discuss with the centre owner shortly for his advice - experience shows that the centre owners at places that care (like the site we are playing at) are the better formats.

LQ well, thats just LQ really!

LF = SM5 same as always

DL = We will be following the USA Armageddon with their format. Essentially it is the same last year with major negative points for losing a life. I'll try and locate the format from the Darklight forums... due to the fact the arena isn't open yet I've no idea where anything is. I'm not going to be able to get to the arena before the event so we are in Marvin's capable hands as GEM placement etc. This really is a neutral arena.

Zone = Same as all the other years. Two colours, reload in the middle, two shots/sec etc.

Quasar = Same as always, supercharge 6, one shot/sec, with defence shields and reflex shots.

Cool.

Targets active in SM? Hope only the 2 neutrals on or things will go haywire with nukes!

Same fields as in 2007? (urban & speedball)

So it's still not open? (even though it was supposed to the other week)

Anyway, from what I can remember it goes something like this:

10 energy and 300 shots per life
+10 pts for a hit and for spending a credit
-1 pt and -1 energy for getting hit (-2 for megapower)
-90 pts for losing a life

Shots GEM - 1 credit (25 shots)
Energy GEM - 3 credits (2 energy)
Domination GEM - 6 credits (5 or 10 pts (?) every 10 secs for you & team, plus a weakened DarkThief (10% of opponent's credits per hit) for 30 secs)
Points GEM - 15 credits (300 points, invincibility for 5 secs & megapower for 30 secs)

Usually red and green, but hopefully the navigator won't be on this year...

No, been told definitely not. Be a bit strange for us though, although we've turned Mr. Neville off the last few games.

And I won't log on on the wrong class either...promise.

Darklight Team Standard from US forums :

Game Settings:
10 minute games
1000 ammo per life
10 Energy
99 lives

Credits are not restored on life re-spawn
Ammo is restored on life re-spawn
Friendly fire: On

+20 per tag against opponent
-10 per getting tagged by opponent (6 sec downtime when getting tagged)
-0 per deactivation (10 sec downtime per deactivation)
-20 for tagging own color
-0 for getting tagged by own color (Player receives 6 or 10 second downtime for getting tagged and 1 point energy loss)
-20 for getting tagged by a GEM

======================================================
Abilities Settings:
Big Point GEM - Cost 13 Credits - color neutral - 3 second fuse
Awards 390 points + 3 second Invulnerability

Megapower GEM - Cost 4 Credits - color neutral - 3 second fuse
Awards 60 points + 30 seconds Megapower (Megapower removes 2 energy per hit against opponent)

Invisibility GEM - Cost 2 Credits - color neutral - 3 second fuses
Awards 30 points + 30 seconds Invisibility

Energy Buff GEM - Cost 1 Credits - color neutral - 3 second fuses
Awards 5 points and 1 Energy

=====================================================
Gem Ratios:

1 and only 1 Big Points GEM | 1 Mega Power : 1 Energy : 1 Invisibility
=====================================================
Notes:

- When designing the Arena, the Big Points GEM should be centralized
- When designing the Arena, the Megapower GEM(s) should be closest to the Big Point GEMs, and distributed evenly.
- When designing the Arena, the Invisibility and Energy GEM(s) should be distributed evenly.
======================================================
Example Formats:

3 GEM Arena (Ex. Maxx,, Uniontown):
1 Big Point GEM, 1 Megapower GEM 1 Energy GEM

5 GEM Arena (Ex. Web, Cinncinati):
1 Big Point GEM, 2 Megapower GEM, 1 Energy GEM, 1 Invisibility GEMs

6 GEM Arena (Ex. Laser 1, Wantage ):
1 Big Point GEM, 2 Megapower GEM, 2 Energy GEMs, 1 Invisibility GEM

8 GEM Arena (Ex. Blazer, Austin):
1 Big Point GEM, 3 Megapower GEM, 2 Energy GEMs, 2 Invisibility GEM

I still think we should play baseflags for Zone - it's an out and out Zone game and seeing as Force play Space Marines, Zone should be BaseFlags all the way.

Or, use the full length of our arena, reloads at either end with 4 bases in the middle - that'd be great fun!

Still think we should play LOR as ours.

Using the full length of the arena? I'm not that fit :p

Nah, LoR is for pussies with no skill. just IMHO.

Base Flags + Huddersfield Arena = Best Team Game Ever!

I've played it at arenas all over the place and nowhere really touches our place for the best game of base flags. now I know people will think I'm biased and they would be correct - but in this case it's actually true!

Correct, no navigator. It was a mistake having it on last year.

As per my earlier post the format for Darklight will be the same as the USA was this year. There are no negative points for life loss only for energy loss.

As far as game formats go I have always said we'll use the established tournament format where it is available. In this case zone tournaments were run with the format we will use in 2006. There have been no tournaments since then, and to count it really needs to include 3 or more centres and be at more than one site.

I'll try and get an event pack together, but been very busy recently.

We do need a couple more players to complete the 5th team so see what you can do.

The problem with Zone tourneys is that all the centres are a bit too far apart. Maybe when I get Bradford up and running we'll be able to get inter Hudds / Bfd / Cas tourneys going.

One thing to consider though Mike, at the Zone conference this year, nearly every operator that attended said that Base Flags was the most popular team tournament game at their centres and Sherman Oaks have a big baseflags based tourney every couple of months.

Base Flags is such an easy game to pick up, ideal, in my opinion, for a tourney game.
