Just thought I'd kick off with a few things to remember,
The Scottish team losing the spare car keys to one of the cars (the main keys were lost a few days before!), only to find after breaking to the car they were on the back seat.
Neocydude asking to buy a t-shirt because he had lost his in the back of the car, the same car with the key incident the day before!
The weird names some players were called, including Mad Gasket, Tiych, and others.
The number of people who couldn't walk by the end of the tournament, at least Yoda, Damian and CoCo (oh and Slaughter, but that was because he was too drunk to stand).
Being told to quiet down 3 times by the hotel reception guy
The look of confusion by the checkout lady in Asda over the Scottish notes I paid with
The luck of bring stuck in slow traffic, rather than being on the other side of the closed road with a horsebox accident while heading over to DarkLight.
Damage running up a ramp at LF not seeing me crouched down and going full-pelt in to me, flipping over the top and landing on his back the other side of me with Entity laughing at the whole thing (and shooting us!)
Mad Gazet so drunk she didn't know if the bed was shaking or if she was.
Normal Shot or a Christmas shot?
So on to congrats, obviously to Psycho Family who won by a huge margin. Impressive results, you really did well at every system.
Some players stood out, for various reasons.... DK and Swaz showed they were great at practically every system, very strong impressive players. Yoda for the fact he didn't make it through the first half of the first day, yet stuck with the event to the end. Big Dog impressed me at a number of systems, with a little bit of practice of the systems you were new to you'll be one of the top players at Armageddon. It is always difficult to see how well your team mates are doing, but Damage, I had a number of players saying you have improved, so well done! Entity you did very well at all the systems, a real pain to play against :p Soul, you made a good team captain, and you were a great player in the arena also, I look forward to doing battle with you again. C'tri you were a laugh, and quite insane, and did very well in systems I didn't expect, keep working on that flux capacitor and maybe I'll see you last year.
To the two youngsters on Entropy, you showed determination by taking part in this event, it isn't easy going from being a very good player at your home site/system to being bottom of the pile somewhere else. Armageddon does that to everyone who takes part, and it was great to see you not giving up but trying your hardest all the way through. Practice and come back next year, I have a feeling that in a few years you'll be giving many of us a real challenge in a lot of systems.
So to thanks, to Ricky Vega for starting Armageddon and doing the t-shirt design for this year's event. To Paul, Al, and their team for the two arena split that really helps the event both in travel time and cost. To Marvin for working out a great deal for us to play at the Birmingham site, and for running the whole thing smoothly, he wasn't paid to be there - he took time out of his weekend to run the event for us. Gammie for marshalling and helping at the DarkLight site. Steve for cooking the BBQ. To everyone who lent a hand during the event where I needed assistance, your help was much appreciated, especially for those tasks such as tidy-up duty which weren't so fun.
And of course thank you to everyone who attended and made the event such fun, those who haven't attended before - you took a big step, going outside of your comfort zone within your home system(s)/arena(s), that takes courage, so thanks for taking that step and I hope you all back again next year.
